Getting Settled...

Our day on Saturday started bright and early at 5:30 a.m. as we met and loaded the van to begin our journey to Guatemala.  We had an uneventful trip to the airport and check-in went smoothly.

We flew from Philadelphia through Dallas/Ft. Worth.  We had a few hour layover in Texas, so we wanted to grab something to eat.  Like good, responsible people, we wanted to go directly to our gate, to get our lay of the land.  This involved getting on the Skylink, aka, "the spaceship," to travel between terminals.  Once we arrived at our gate and scoped out that area for options to eat, we quickly realized that the options in that terminal were a bit out of our price range.  So, back on the "spaceship" to the previous terminal where we ate lunch at Qdoba.

We landed in Guatemala City around 7 pm (9 pm PA time), gathered our bags and were met by Pastor Mynor and Anna, the translator.  We piled our luggage into the van and a few of us piled in the car with Anna and her family (because there wasn't any room in the van).  Although it was late, our hosts wanted to be sure we were fed.  We went to Pollo Campero, basically the Guatemalan version of KFC.  Nothing quite like eating fried chicken at 11 pm!

After eating, they took us to our hotel.  We were all ready to get to bed!  As our heads hit the pillow, we realized that we were probably up for about 21 hours yesterday.

This morning, as the sun came up, we realized the beauty and peace of our little setting here.  It's lovely!

Our team is getting ready for the day.  We've enjoyed some breakfast together and now we're having a team meeting to brief about our day ahead.  Today is a day of worship and Pastor Joshua will be sharing the message this morning.  Also, when they found out that some of our teens played music, they quickly invited us to share in worship.  So, our awesome teens are stepping up to the plate!

Everyone is doing great!  It seems that everyone had a good night of rest and we're ready for the day ahead.  Pray for us as we worship with our brothers and sisters in Guatemala today.
