Our day was a beautiful day of enjoying God’s beautiful creation and
many beautiful animals. I feel so
privileged to be able to see this country and so much beauty. After an early start today, we ended up at
Victoria Falls and Hwange Game Park in Zimbabwe.
I can’t even put into words the beauty and power of Victoria
Falls. We spent a few hours hiking
around the falls, seeing different views of the falls. This time of year, there is much more mist
coming off of the falls, so the falls are not as easy to see. Thankfully, Jake and Nancy provided us with
rain ponchos—we would have been soaked otherwise!
We went to a few shops after the falls and ordered a lunch to go. Crocodile burger for me! Delicious!
Don't see this in Lancaster County! |
We arrived at the Game Park late afternoon, just in time to check in to
the lodge and leave right away for an evening drive in the park. We had a few hours to try to see some animals
in the wild. Wow…such beauty to see
these creatures in the wild, in their natural habitat. Just beautiful! We saw MANY different types of birds, as well
as elephants, mongoose, impala, kudu, wildebeest, warthogs, waterbucks, zebras,
stingbuck, ostrich, giraffe and hippo.
We ended our day with dinner at the restaurant at the game park. What a fun evening! Jake and Nancy are just a joy to be around
and they have so many stories to share! Dinner
was hilarious. We were the only ones in
the restaurant and our waiter was new, being trained. He seemed terrified! And, when we arrived, we were told they were
out of chicken, pork chops and cheese sauce.
That didn’t leave many options on the menu. Then, when we were considering dessert, Jake
said they probably didn’t have anything…just probably ice cream. Well, he called that one! We passed on dessert; we were chilly enough
and didn’t need ice cream! On our way
back to the lodge after dinner, Nancy pointed out constellations that we don’t
see from the US—the southern cross and the scorpion.
My heart is happy…I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Enjoy!
