Challenges Bring Change

Sunday we went to church and went out for lunch….to Pizza Hut??  Really…  The girls were craving some American food.  We aim to please!  After lunch, the girls and I spent some time just hanging out for the afternoon at Jim and Sonia’s house.  It was a beautiful afternoon in the sun!  It’s been great to be reunited with the girls again!  We ended the day by watching the Super Bowl.

After a nice morning run this morning back at my “track/park,” I enjoyed some breakfast before the girls arrived to begin our day.  It's a beautiful, sunny 84-degree day in Honduras (sorry to all of you at home dealing with all of the snow today).  This week, while I’m here, the girls are planning and preparing for their ministry week next week in Choluteca.  They need to prepare games, crafts, songs, and lessons for 30-50 kids at a nutrition clinic and orphanage there.

I also plan to connect with each of the girls individually while I’m here—to catch up with them, listen to them, and encourage them.  They have been here for two months now, four months to go.  After lunch today, Nikki and I spent some time together.  We took some time hanging out together at a local Dunkin Donuts and then we walked to a park nearby where the team had spent some time earlier in the training.  It was so nice to connect with Nikki.  She shared from her heart, some of her challenges here, as well as the things she loves about the culture.  I’m really proud of her and how she is dealing with some of the challenges and her attitude about it.  She is making the most of every opportunity here.  Love it!

I was reminded today that life does bring challenges, but that brings changes…and that’s good.
