Another beautiful, sunny day in Honduras!
After breakfast this morning, the team spent some time connecting with
the group they will be serving with next week at the orphanage and nutrition
clinic. They worked on putting together
a skit to act out the “wordless book” that they will share with the children.
I was able to spend quite a bit of time with the girls today and listen
to them share their challenges and frustrations they are dealing with
here. Please pray for wisdom for me as I
share with them and Jim and Sonia on ideas for this program in Honduras.
The girls wanted to take me to their favorite restaurant for lunch to
have baleadas—a flour tortilla with beans, cheese, ham, egg, avocado, and
plantains. I remembered the restaurant
from two years ago. Delicious! This is where the girls ate almost every day
when they were in language school. They
became regulars!
After lunch, Katlyn and I spent some time together. We walked to her neighborhood nearby and
ended up finding another small soccer field that had “bleachers” under a
roof. The afternoons get quite warm here
and the shade with a breeze was just what we needed. It was great to connect with Katlyn. I know she is very close with her family in
the US, so I asked her how she has been dealing with missing her family. She shared how she has grown in that area and
how a verse she learned during our training in the US has helped her. I’m so proud of her and how far she has come,
too, in her spiritual walk. She relies
completely on God and is seeing for herself how God’s Word is always true and
He gives the words and encouragement just when you need it most. What a blessing to recognize that at such a
young age!
Once the girls left for the day, Jim, Sonia and I took a trip to
Walmart to get some supplies for their ministry next week. In case you are wondering…Walmart is the same
ANYWHERE you go…tons of available lanes, but only 5 with cashiers. Longest lines ever…
Tomorrow will be a long day. We will be travelling to a few towns nearby for various activities. We are hoping to end the day with a church service at Kennedy--if traffic allows. We'll see how the day goes!
