Just a quick update today...not too many pictures since I was probably only outside for an hour all day.
We've begun the evangelism portion of our trip today. We spent the day meeting our teammates and doing orientation. Our very own, Jay Smith, came to share with the group about Speaker's Corner. We're all excited to go to Speaker's Corner tomorrow. I'm sure it will be quite an experience. (If you want more information about that or want to see some of that, you can find Jay Smith debating at Speaker's Corner on you tube videos.)
I'm part of a team of 20, which is rather large, and most of the team is from Texas!? I had been expecting more on my team from other countries. We do have quite a representation of countries here, however, most of them are on the other team of 8. I'll get into more about my teammates in another blog.
I do have to say that I am VERY pleasantly surprised that I get a bed to sleep in while we are here! That was totally not expected at all. So, the girls on the team feel very blessed.
Please pray for those dealing with jet lag. There are several of the girls with colds. Please pray for their healing and that we could all be protected from getting sick. Today was a very interesting experience for me in that I'm not "in charge" and was feeling a little bit of frustration with the organization of how things are going. This may seem a strange request, but for those of you that really know me won't think it is strange...please pray that I can somehow fit in a time to run. I have not been able to get any run in at all yet since I've been here--mostly because of safety reasons. I would prefer to go in the early morning, but they don't recommend going when it is dark. So, I'm not sure when I can fit it in.
Please pray, especially, for our day on Sunday, as we go to Speaker's Corner. This will be a challenging day for all of us.
It's late here and since I'm sharing a room with many others, I need to sign off for now. Our schedule is pretty full. I'll update again when I can!
